Another Record Season

Super Senior Schedules in Final Review Readying for Late August Start

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- A couple USTA League mixed doubles teams have clinched category championships. Combo is about to get all its divisions into full swing. And Super Senior schedules are in final review for release in the next day or two or three, setting the stage for that season to begin about the time the US Open guys and gals are hitting the courts in New York City.

"You never know when history will be made," some talking head on TV said Thursday. Well, we know. Our tennis history will be made when Super Seniors roll into the first separate Tennis Association of HHI and Coastal Carolina Tennis Association divisions. It's the transitional phase that still will have some rating categories combined. The 2.5 Men's 60s, for example, will have Country Club of HH, Moss Creek, Sun City and Dataw all playing under CCTA, meaning no HHI league or HHI champions in that category going to States.

Regardless of or because of The Split, the number of Super Senior teams is up again. Play will be in 60s, 70s and 75s, with local champions advancing to South Carolina playoffs in early November.

Meanwhile, here are the current league standings as of Thursday the 7th:
