IT’S PLAYOFF TIME:
USTA League 3.5 Men’s 1st Round Set Wednesday; 3.0 Men Go at It on Monday
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) – Playdown will begin tomorrow for the three HHI 3.5 and 3.0 each spots in next month’s USTA League South Carolina State Senior Championships that will be played for the fourth straight year on Hilton Head Island. About 1,000 SC seniors will be competing on 2.5 through 4.5 levels.
The HHI Senior Men’s 3.0s and 3.5s each will follow the same playoff format. First off, the #2 team in Flight I hosts #3 team in Flight II and #2 of Flight II hosts #3 of Flight I. Teams that finished first in each category have byes the first round. The senior women are wrapping up their regularly scheduled season this week. Here is the men's playoff schedule:

Wednesday (9th) -- Dataw Islanders (FII, #3) at Sun City Spin Doctors (FI, #2); Spring Lake The Ultimates (FI, #3) at Sea Pines Country Club Cardinals (FII, #2)
Wednesday (16th) – Dataw-Sun City winner at Palmetto Dunes Wannabees (FII, #1); Spring Lake-Sea Pines winner at Indigo Run Golden Bear Claws (FI, #1).
Wednesday (23rd) -- Winners from 16th play at Port Royal Racquet Club to decide the #1 and #2 seeds at States. Losers from the 16th will play for the HHI #3 seed position at States.
3.0s:
Monday (14th) -- Sun City Challengers (FII, #3) at Long Cove Club Runners (FI, #2) and Sun City Court Jesters (FI, #3) at Country Club of Hilton Head Hustlers (FII, #2)
Wednesday (16th) -- Challengers-Long Cove winner at Shipyard Rockets (FII, #1) and Court Jesters-CCHH winner at Sea Pines Cardinals (FI, #1)
Monday the 21st -- Winners from 16th play at Port Royal Racquet Club to decide the #1 and #2 seeds at States. Losers from the 16th will play for the HHI #3 seed position at States.
Inaugural Beaufort Academy Event
Rising Stars Will Be Shining Next Month -- Sanctioned Tournament for Novice Juniors
BEAUFORT SC (TENNIS E-News) – Beaufort Academy is stepping out with its first novice junior tournament -- a USTA-sanctioned one -- the "Rising Stars at Beaufort Academy" to be played Saturday, May 17.
Entry is for boys' and girls' singles in age divisions of 8 through 16 with play in a round robin format to provide extra play. Players with higher point rankings are not eligible.
Entry fee is $20 plus a $3 TennisLink fee and includes a T-shirt and lunch. Entry deadline is May 11. To enter online, go to http://www.sctennis.com then select TennisLink, then Tournaments and use Tournament ID #704123008. USTA membership is required to play.
