SHOULD TAHHI LEAGUES BE SPLIT GEOGRAPHICALLY?

Dividing line being The Bridge

{85} yes {66} no

The results of our simplistic, unscientific poll on whether you think the USTA leagues should be divided geographically produced no great surprises. Based on email signatures and name familiarity, TENNIS E-News figures that about 75% of Hilton Head Island respondents favor splitting the leagues and about 85% of off-island emailers oppose a split. Stay tuned.

Some comments:

"I think it is time to split. Afternoon traffic on and off the island being what it is now I suspect the off-island teams would welcome it."

"NO, NO, A THOUSAND TIMES. NO."

"Yes for seniors; no for adults."

"No, if less than five teams in a division; yes, if more than five teams."

"Yes on the split. No desire to drive to Sun City to play stacked teams."

"No. I live in Sun City and if we are not going to play the teams on the island, we don't need to belong to TAHHI. We could start our own off-island league."

"YES!!! I think that Moss Creek, Sun City, Calawassee, Dataw and maybe Fripp could be a separate division. We are tired of the sandbaggers on the south end of HHI who dominate the 3.0 league play."

How To Become a Hilton Head Islander …

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- If you live on Hilton Head Island, you are a Hilton Head Islander. Maybe. If you live on the Island, but identify yourself as from Hilton Head, then you are not an Islander.

For a Hilton Header to become an Islander, one must update USTA membership information to show "Hilton Head Island" and not "Hilton Head". Go to http://www.usta.com and, in upper right corner, select "Membership". Then, again at the right, scroll down to "Update My Information" and select that. You may have to go through a get-a-password procedure. Just follow the directions and key in "Hilton Head Island" for your home town. So simple.
