EARLY ROUNDS
Van der Meer Open Gets Through Prelims of Prize-Money Singles and Doubles
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Early rounds were completed today and more under the lights tonight in the first of three Open-division, prize-money tournaments that are set this year at Van der Meer Tennis. Matches will continue all day Saturday, with finals set Sunday morning. Spectators are admitted free.
The men's and women's singles and doubles draws are filled with area teaching pros, top-level juniors heading soon to college teams and some college players.

Fripp Island Spring Clay Court Championship -- Women's 3.5 Doubles Set the Competitive Tone
FRIPP ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News via TennisLink) -- Just take a look at the Women's 3.5 Doubles Round of 16 and you can see a weekend of exciting tennis developing at the USTA-sanctioned Spring Clay Court Championship. Three of the matches went to super match tiebreaks. And the tiebreak scores were 14-12, 10-7 and 13-11.
Stay tuned for lots more than action resumes Saturday and rolls through to Sunday finals.
