Van der Meer Open Championships -- Look for More Big Hitting in Finals

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-NEWS) -- It's the Open division and that's how these guys and gals play -- wide open, full throttle. Oh, sure, with a dropshot tossed in for variety. The Van der Meer Open is set for finals Sunday morning at the Tennis Center on DeAllyon. Admission is free to spectators.

Singles will be at 9:30 a.m. with doubles semis and finals scheduled for 12:30 and 3 p.m.

Standings in USTA League Senior Divisions

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Losing all three first sets then coming back to win all three second and third sets pretty much appears to be the best tale of the week in USTA League Seniors. That's especially so when it was the unbeaten Palmetto Dunes Wannabees who did the return from the nearly departed.

The Wannabees remain in a tie with Sun City Nationals for Men's 3.5 Flight II top spot. Those two teams won't meet until the last week in the season.
