Team Captains Meetings Wednesday – Ya Gotta Be There
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) – Hilton Head Island USTA League team captains will meet with local coordinators Wednesday to set up the Spring season that will begin Jan. 26. Schedules are complete and posted on TennisLink in most rating divisions.
A team captain, co-captain or team rep must attend either the 4 p.m. or 5:15 p.m. meetings at Hilton Head (Island) Library. The 2009 Local League Rules will be among topics covered by Local League Coordinator Jackie Reynecke. Captains will meet their level coordinators and resolve any last-minute situations.
The Spring season will be operating in separate HHI and ‘cross-the-bridge Coastal Carolina divisions. Each will be sending its champions to South Carolina State Championships in May: Seniors on May 9-11 on Hilton Head Island; Adult 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 May 16-18 in Aiken and Adult 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 States May 30-June 1 in Greenville.
Playing-Up Alert – Senior Men’s Coordinator Don Grider has an strong message for his captains that most likely applies to all levels of men and women. “Make sure you inform any below-level players on your roster, i.e. 3.0 playing at 3.5, 3.5 playing at 4.0, etc. that playing up could cause them to be moved up to the next level at the end of the 2009 season.
Also, Grider said that no changes can be made in the playing dates of scheduled matches without prior consent of the level coordinator. Concerning the ’09 Local League Rules, Grider urged captains to pay close attention to Section 3.01.B-Team and Section 3.01H(2) Team match and scoring.
