Teams in Men’s 70 Final

HHI’s Killer Bees Win Women’s 3.5 Super Senior 70 State Championship at Wild Dunes

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) – The Port Royal Killer Bees put the final touches on their championship run today, capturing the 70s Women’s 3.5 title at the South Carolina Super Senior State Championships at Wild Dunes, Isle of Palms. In the second day of 70s play, the Indigo Run Men’s 3.5s won their third straight team match and lost one but advanced to the Saturday final. Match play began today in Super Senior 60s and will complete in-group play Saturday, leading into Sunday finals.

The Killer Bees won their first teams matches Thursday, then encountered the also unbeaten Seabrook Grandes Dames. The split two courts, but then Captain Catherine Haight and Janet Palmer pulled out a 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 match on Court One for the championship. The clincher went this way:

Court 1: Catherine Haight/Janet Palmerwon 7-5, 6-7, 1-0

Court 2: Joyce Flanagan/Marian Trennis won 6-0, 6-0

Wild Wing Nutty Buddy – Day One Results

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) – It was opening day and night for the Wind Wing Café Nutty Buddy Tennis Classic at Palmetto Dunes. Matches will fill up the day on Saturday as quarterfinals and semifinals get the lineup set for Sunday’s finals. It’s 9 p.m. and our deadline time. We’ll catch up with results Saturday.
