The Split Coming This Fall?
Saturday Meeting Set for Volunteers Who Want To Work North-of-the-Bridge USTA Leagues
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Mary Goins, South Carolina USTA League coordinator, will be on Hilton Head Island Saturday to head a meeting on The Split -- the organization and administration of USTA league programs in the new local league play area that will incorporate northern Beaufort County. And, no, the boundaries have not been decided.
Goins, together with HHI Local League Coordinator Jackie Reynecke, will host the meeting at the Palmetto Dunes Conference Center to discuss the upcoming split. Anyone interested in working with leagues in the Fall of 2008 and beyond should attend, Reynecke announced at Tuesday's league captains meetings. Reynecke requested that anyone wanting to attend the meeting email her at jreynecke@hargray.com for further details and to sign up for the meeting.
"We will be looking for a new local league coordinator, level coordinators, volunteers, etc.," Reynecke said. Where The Split will break will be among talking points Saturday. The Bridge? Zip codes? To Be Determined. One thing for certain: The transition will have some rough spots to negotiate. Saturday's session will begin the process.
