Super Senior Combo Ends
Adult, Senior Combo Season Under Way With Slight Uptick over 2007 Numbers
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- That internecine battling that is Sun City turned out about as tight as it can get in the final USTA League Super Senior Combo round. The 60 & Older SSenior Combo has ended, but the 50 & Older Seniors are set to start today and the Adults tomorrow -- give or take a downpour or three.
In Super Senior Combo, Sun City Shorebets took on the SC Rally Cats, who had been leading the 6.5 Women's division, and came out on top of the division. The teams finished tied in overall record and courts won/lost, but the Shorebets captured #1 by virtue of losing just 22 sets to the Cats' 24. On to Combo States in October!!
Here is the final standings on the Supers:
Super Senior Combo
6.5 Men -- 2 teams -- 6/3 to 7/1 -- Spring Lake MisHits clinch championship at 3-2
6.5 Women -- 5 teams -- 5/13 to 7/8 -- Sun City Shorebets clinch championship at 5-3
7.5 Men -- 2 teams -- 6/10 to 7/8 -- Port Royal Super Senior Combo clinch championship at 3-2
7.5 Women -- 3 teams -- 5/15 to 7/10 -- Indigo Run Hot Shots clinch championship at 5-1
Meanwhile in Mixed Doubles, unbeaten teams are leading each of the Adult and Senior divisions, but that can't last for long. Here is how summer mixed is looking in standings as of Thursday the 17th:

7.0 -- 7 teams -- 6/21 to 8/16 -- Chaplin Heat leads at 3-0
8.0 -- 5 teams -- 6/15 to 8/24 -- Bluffton Bangers in lead at 3-0
9.0 -- 1 team -- South Beach Slammers
Senior Mixed Doubles
6.0 -- 8 teams -- 6/16 to 8/11 -- Spring Lake Odd Couples in lead at 4-0

8.0 -- 3 teams -- 6/19 to 8/21 -- PDTC 8.0 Sr. in lead at 2-0
Adult and Senior Combo likely will be dodging raindrops to get opening week matches played. Senior divisions have two more total teams (16) than last year. The 26 Adult total is the same as '07.
Here is how those divisions look:
