Mixed Doubles in Full Swing … sort of:
With a Chance of Late Afternoon Thundervolleys
HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Going one for three will get you a million-dollar baseball contract. One for three in completed matches on USTA League Mixed Doubles opening day not so much. Already it’s makeup time and Excedrin headache #271 for team captains trying to dodge “30% chance” and social calendars of teammates.
No matter, mixed doubles is under way now on both sides of The Bridge(s) with the continuing increase in number of teams over previous years. The addition of Super Senior Mixed (60 & older) has provided a significant increase in total number of teams this summer, compared to 2008. Again, it’s the first season with HHI Tennis Leagues and Coastal Carolina Tennis Association operating separately. We’ll stop pointing that out once Combo gets rolling later this summer.
On the Mixed Doubles team totals, the 2008 figures shown here are pre-Split. The 2009* figures show HHITL totals(forward slash)CCTA totals.
