Vacation Co. Adult Championships Duck Under Cover for Tournament Matches

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Today is the day when you knew why Van der Meer Shipyard and Tennis Center have roofs. With 169 players in the draws, the annual Vacation Co. Adult Championships ran for cover, although few on hand could remember the way-back-when Van der Meer tournament called the "Gotcha Covered".

The tournament was able to proceed but with much more action will continue through Sunday morning singles and doubles finals in the USTA-sanctioned age-division brackets.

Seeded players from HHI and area are: (If you are new to HHI, but haven’t changed your USTA address to HHI, then you are from Elsewhere USA as far as we know. A HHIslander is anyone whose USTA membership says that.)

SC Combo States Must Not Have Weathered the Day

DANIEL ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News via TennisLink) -- Was that TennisLink we saw bobbing in the water on www.weatherunderground.com? The South Carolina Combo State Championships were set to begin today … and play all day … at Family Circle Tennis Center. Ten HHI league teams are competing in Adult, Senior and Super Senior levels. And with no results posted on TennisLink, it appears that nothing got played. Or the score poster didn't know how to swim.

Stay tuned for better weather Saturday … but don't hold your breath.
