Sun City Senior Doubles Ready for Finals Sunday Morning

BLUFFTON SC (TENNIS E-News) -- The Sun City Senior Doubles went heavy on the beverages -- water, no doubt -- today to set up a day of finals Sunday. The USTA-sanctioned tournament had 158 players in the draws.

HHIslander is a USTA Cover Girl

On the Cover of the Rolling …………. Rules??

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Imagine a photo of you "on the cover of the Rolling Stone" and what you would have to do or be for that to happen. See if that can translate into having your photo on the cover of "Friend at Court 2008", the 308-page USTA handbook of tennis rules and regulations.

Well, you can give that credit to WTA tour umpire Lynn Welch of Hilton Head Island. She has chaired the Family Circle Cup and US Open finals, so it is no great surprise to see her pictured in the umpire's chair on the handbook cover. A surprise to her as well.

The Hilton Head Islander's travels this year have included a three-day weekend in Beijing, China, to officiate at the Spain vs. China Federation Cup match. Nice weekend jaunt. French Open chairing included Ana Ivanovich-Patty Schnyder. Current stop is on the cool greens of Eastbourne and then on to Wimbledon June 23.
