SC Champions

Readers comment:

My husband and I would like to know why are they showing year old stuff when they could be showing doubles?!

I don't know which is worse at this point---NBC and their non-live coverage or Hargray not getting the finals at all, except for a few games here and there. Blank screen most of the time. They tell us" its not a Hargray problem" but Time Warner and Dish network had no problems with it. NBC on Hargray was out most of the weekend. Go figure!

SC's Mallory Cecil Pulls a "Nadal" With 6-0 Final Set in Kaelin/Diadora Championship

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) -- Trivia contest question: What did Mallory Cecil have in common with Rafael Nadal today? And if more than one person knows that answer, here is the tiebreak question: What does Cecil have in common with Venus and Serena Williams?* $10 to the winner of the contest. Deadline midnight Monday.

Okay. For a hint, the answer of the first question is the score of the final set in Cecil's and Nadal's championship matches today. Following up the 6-3 first-set win at Van Der Meer Tennis Center, Cecil fell back to Theresa Logar 6-3 in the second set, but then totally frustrated the Californian through the final set.

Cecil, a straight-A high school student in Spartanburg, last weekend encountered Stanford University grad Lugar in the finals of Palmetto Pro Open in Sumter and won in three sets. Now the South Carolinian is unbeaten on the women's pro satellite tour. As an amateur, she missed out on prize money for last week's and today's championships. Put yourself in her parents' shoes, considering college scholarships vs. turning pro.

* You may as well give up, but we're going to wait until at least Tuesday to provide this answer.
