FRIPP ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-NEWS) – Thus endeth the Fripp Island Spring Clay Court Championships Sunday. That 11:15 a.m. posting by Tournament Director Troy McMullen on TennisLink sent the message: Stay home and have another bloody mary.

The October tournament to which McMullen referred is the Fripp Island Fall Clay Court Championships.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-NEWS) – Okay, so you missed “Luck of the Irish” Tournament Sunday deadline. So did we. Not to worry. Tournament Director Jackie Reynecke will accept entries today and Tuesday … providing you include the $10 late fee. An entry form is attached to this TENNIS E-NEWS ISSUE.

The 26^th annual LOTI will be playing in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles divisions of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and Open. You can enter two events. So, hustle by the PD Pro Shop. For information, call 785-1152.

First of Three This Year

Deadline Today for This Weekend’s Van Der Meer Men’s & Women’s Open Championships

HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-NEWS) – The first of three Van Der Meer Tennis’ Men’s and Women’s Open tournaments will begin play Friday. Entry deadline is TODAY, by contacting Tournament Director Justyn Schelver at 785-8388, ext. 119.

The non-sanctioned Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles will include rating levels 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5. Teaching professionals, college players and competitive juniors will make up the bulk of the Open draws that are limited to 32 entries in singles and 16 teams in doubles. Matches will be played on the hard courts of Van Der Meer DeAllyon Road center.

Play will begin Friday afternoon the 6^th, with pro set format to the quarterfinals of each division. A cash prize of $500 to the singles champion will be dependant on full draw.
