The event started three years ago with a friend’s need for help with her son who was diagnosed with incurable kidney disease. Since then, interest, attendance and support for the Junior Banana Open has skyrocketed. Frances Worthy and Kelly Ruhlin

NEW AGAIN IN 2009: Two years ago TENNIS E-News ran a well-received series of excerpts from "The Code, The Players' Guide for Unofficiated Matches". You have asked for a repeat? You got it.

It is a foot fault if: The server shall not: a) Change position by walking or running (while in the service motion); b) Touch the baseline or the (in play) court with either foot; c) Touch the area outside the imaginary extension of the sideline with either foot; d) Touch the imaginary extension of the center mark.

In a singles match, is the server allowed to serve standing behind the part of the baseline between the singles and doubles sidelines? No.

You too can get a copy of The Code – a complete version or a shortened one – at http://www.usta.com. Go to USTA Shop and publications.
